AM Small Communities

AMS Rural Programme was initially started in early 2015 with aims of reaching out to primary schools in rural areas and then delivering extra-curricular multi-sports sessions to pupils of all ages. The multi-sports session were designed to give access and opportunity to engage in physical activity which they did not have access to before.

In order to deliver these multi-sports sessions AMS forged partnerships with the Bell Baxter - the local high school and also Active Schools in order to recruit coaches who would volunteer to deliver multi-sport sessions to various rural schools. The pupils recruited engage in Young Leaders Awards at their High School before putting their experiences in the classroom into practice by delivering a set block of classes consisting of varying sports on each occasion.

Now, in 2019, with fresh support from the Volunteering Support Fund, Robertson Trust and Awards for All, we're pleased to be delivering sessions in the nearby rural communities:

  • Dairsie (Mondays @ Community Hall - 6pm-7:30pm)
  • Springfield (Saturdays @ Springfield Muga - 12pm-1:30pm)
  • Pitlessie
  • Strathmiglo
  • Balmullo
  • Ceres
  • Ladybank
  • Dunbog

As part of this programme, we're looking to recruit volunteers to assist with the delivery of sessions.
